General Recommendations for the GWAVA 4 SMTP Appliance

I have installed a GWAVA 4 SMTP Appliance. What settings should I apply to get the best results?

The GWAVA 4 SMTP Appliance offers many new options for scanning and filtering your e-mail. Most of the settings we recommend using are checked by default. However, if you unchecked the options or opted to use another scanner configuration when you installed the scanner, then the default settings may not have been applied.

• Signature spam engine (heuristics)
• IP reputation connection drop (Superior to Greylisting)
• RBL connection drop
• SPF connection drop

These options will block most of the spam that is sent to you. Start with these base settings and you can then fine-tune the system from there with GWAVA 4’s additional features (filters, exceptions, etc) to block any other stray spam that makes it through the filter.
