Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 3 - 10.3 Bundles
Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.1

Situation

Verifying a Bundle that contains a Reboot/Shutdown action as part of the Install set may fail with the following message:

Unable to launch because computer will be shutdown

Resolution

For ZCM 11.x: This is fixed in version 11.2 - see KB 7010044 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Workaround: if it is not possible to upgrade to 11.2 at this time, in the interim, Novell has made a Patch available for testing, in the form of a Field Test File (FTF): it can be obtained at https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=vMD1JCay4Fo~ as "ZCM 11.1 combined fix for "ZENworks Adaptive Agent" on desktop – see KB 7007656, Bundles randomly disappear after ZCM 11.1 update - see KB 7009087 and Bundle verify fails with Reboot/Shutdown action - see TID 7009953". This Patch should only be applied if the symptoms above are being experienced, and are causing problems.

This Patch has had limited testing, and should not be used in a production system without first being checked in a test environment. Some Patches have specific requirements for deployment, it is very important to follow any instructions in the readme at the download site. Please report any problems encountered when using this Patch, by using the feedback link on this TID.

For ZCM 10.x: This is fixed in version 10.3.4 - see KB 7008244 "ZENworks Configuration Management 10.3.4 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Additional Information

This situation occurs if there is an action following the Reboot/Shutdown such as Launch Executable. The full action set proceeds prior to the completion of the Reboot/Shutdown action and since the Reboot/Shutdown is already in process, the actions that follow fail.
