Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 3 - 10.3 Installation - Agent
Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Support Pack 1 - ZDM7 SP1 Management Agent

Situation

The message "This install has detected a previously installed version of ZENworks Configuration Management. To continue with this installation, please uninstall ZENworks Configuration Management first. " has several possible causes, including trying to install a new ZCM agent on a device that already has the agent installed.
This TID covers two possible error scenarios, ensure that one of these causes is applicable before trying the workaround/fix.

Scenario 1:
* Deploying ZCM 10 agent to device that has the agent from ZDM7SP1IR4aHP2 or ZDM7SP1IR4aHP3 (version 7.0.173.91015 or 7.0.173.100104, see TID 3546801"How to check which version of ZENworks 7 Desktop Management you have installed ")
* ZCM 10 has a full license, or the ZCM 10 agent is configured to enable features other than just Asset Management (see https://www.novell.com/documentation/zcm10/zcm10_discovery_deployment/data/bjfvxom.html)

Scenario 2:
* Upgrading ZDM7 agent from ZDM7SP1IR4aHP2 or ZDM7SP1IR4aHP3 (version 7.0.173.91015 or 7.0.173.100104, see TID 3546801"How to check which version of ZENworks 7 Desktop Management you have installed ")
* ZCM 10 agent is already installed, with only Asset Management enabled (see https://www.novell.com/documentation/zcm10/zcm10_discovery_deployment/data/bjfvxom.html)

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.3.1 - see KB 7006265 "ZENworks Configuration Management 10.3.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support
 
Workaround: if it is not possible to upgrade to 10.3.1 at this time, in the interim, Novell has made a Patch available for testing, in the form of a Field Test File (FTF): it can be obtained at https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=67t8F8c9Zek~ as "ZDM7SP1IR4 HP2/HP3 fix for upgrade problems - see KB 7006025 ". This Patch should only be applied if the symptoms above are being experienced, and are causing problems.

This Patch has had limited testing, and should not be used in a production system without first being checked in a test environment. Some Patches have specific requirements for deployment, it is very important to follow any instructions in the readme at the download site. Please report any problems encountered when using this Patch, by using the feedback link on this TID.
