Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 3 - 10.3 Patch Management
Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 2 - 10.2 Patch Management

Situation

After deleting or disabling a "ZPM Assignment " bundle (in bundles\ZPM folder, automatically created when performing "Deploy Remediation "), at the next refresh on the managed device, the corresponding patches are uninstalled.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.3.1 - see KB 7006265 "ZENworks Configuration Management 10.3.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support
With this fix in place, the bundles will not be uninstalled until 999 days have elapsed.

A partial fix is in version 10.2.1 - see KB 7003766 "ZENworks 10 Configuration Management 10.2.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support With this fix in place, the "ZENworks Explorer Configuration" setting "Uninstall after n days" (default is 30) will control when the patches are removed after a ZPM Assignment bundle is deleted or disabled.

Workaround:
  1. In ZENworks Control Center, click Configuration> Configuration> Management Zone Settings> Device Management> ZENworks Explorer Configuration
  2. Select Do Not Uninstall
  3. Click OK.
