The Reflection Ribbon

Applies to Reflection Desktop, Reflection 2014, and Reflection 2011

The Reflection Ribbon is a highly graphical interface that replaces toolbars and menus to help you quickly find commands.

At the top of the Reflection window you'll find a group of tabs and toolbars.

This interface is similar to many Microsoft Office Products and is intended to help you quickly find the commands you need to complete your tasks.

Let's take a tour of the Reflection ribbon.

The ribbon has a file menu and three tabs: Session, Appearance, and  Tools.

Use the file menu to open and save session files and layouts...
and then use the tabs to access all other commands.

Each tab has a toolbar that is organized into groups and each group has a related set of buttons and controls.

For example, the session tab has a host group with several types of controls such as connect and disconnect.

There's also drop down button that opens a gallery of commands

The dialog launcher opens a configuration dialog box.

You'll probably spend most of your time on the Session tab so let's take a look at those groups.

The clipboard tab is where you setup options for copy and paste.

Transfer is used to open dialog boxes for FTP transfer or Reflection transfer.

Productivity has options for sending screens to office programs such as Outlook and configuring options like Recent Typing.

Screen History allows you to capture screens manually or automatically as you navigate through a session.

Use the Macro group to run macros.

Now let's take a look at the Appearance tab. From here you can change the look and feel of your session. You can change the background, text color, and font by choosing one of the available themes or you can create a custom theme.

You can also customize the ribbon or the context menu that appears when you click on a session.

The Tools tab is where you configure keyboard maps and security settings for information privacy.

It's also where you go to open the Visual Basic editor to create macros.

To minimize the ribbon, just double click on one of the tabs.

After you get used to the graphical look and feel, you'll probably find the Reflection ribbon is an easy way to access commands.
