Environment

This article discusses a known issue where a conversion fails with a STOP 0x0000000A error when attempting to convert a source machine that has the IBM OSA IPMI device drivers installed.

Situation

During a conversion of a source machine that has the IBM OSA IPMI device drivers installed, the conversion fails during the configuration stage  and the following Blue Screen is displayed in the target VM:

For NT4:

Resolution

Since the IBM OSA IPMI drivers are dependent upon IBM hardware, the above error is generated when the target VM or target physical machine attempts to boot into its migrated Operating System for the first time.

To prevent this error from occurring, uninstall the IBM OSA IPMI drivers using Add/Remove Programs on the original source server and then retry the conversion.

NOTE: FOR NT4 - Rename the %WINDIR%\System32\drivers\twgsysin.sys file to twgsysin.old on the source machine and then retry conversion again.
