Environment

Reflection Desktop (including Pro, for X, for IBM, or for UNIX and OpenVMS) 16.0 or higher

Situation

The message "Unable to contact Reflection metering server..." may appear in the Reflection Desktop Event Log when using an HTTPS URL for Centralized Management in Reflection Desktop.

From the Reflection Desktop Workspace.Log file:
Metering data acquired from local endpoint: IP address 10.10.1.255, MAC address 00:00:12:34:56:78
Unable to contact Reflection metering server https://MeteringServer.corp.com/meter/meter.do

Resolution

When using secure HTTP connection (HTTPS) connection to the metering server, the user needs to have the certificate from the metering server available on the workstation client for Reflection Desktop to use.  Typically this certificate from the Host Access Management and Security Server (MSS) or metering server is stored in the Internet Explorer or the local Windows certificate store for the workstation.  Make sure this certificate is placed in the local Trusted Root store to allow the workstation to properly authenticate to the metering server.
