InfoConnect Enterprise Edition 9.5 or higher

Situation

This article describes the steps necessary to establish a 3270 Host connection to a Microsoft Host Integration 2016 Server (HIS) with Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit) or Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit).

Resolution

I. Microsoft Windows Configuration

1. Install Windows 7 64-bit with all the latest Microsoft Security and other updates.
                           or
Install Windows 10 64-bit (Build 1809) with all the latest Microsoft Security and other updates.
2. Make sure the Windows machine has joined the Domain where the HIS server is a member.

II. Host Integration Server Client Installation

1. Install the Microsoft Host Integration Server 2016 Client (64-bit) with Cumulative Update 1 (CU1).
2. Install the Microsoft Host Integration Server 2016 Client (64-bit) Cumulative Update 3 patch (CU3).
3. From the Microsoft Host Integration Server 2016 Client program group, load the Configuration program.
4. Click on “Common Settings”.
            a) Make sure the “Enable Common Settings” box is checked.
            b) In the Security Groups set the HIS Runtime Group to the appropriate HIS Runtime Group in the Domain.
(If you experience problems getting the client to initialize, then selecting an HIS Administrative account might be necessary)
            c) In the Security Groups set the HIS Administrators Group to the appropriate HIS Administrators Group in the Domain.
            d) Press the “Set Credentials…” button.
            e) For the Username and Password, select the appropriate user on the Domain that matches the logged in user of the PC.
(If you experience problems, then selecting an Administrative account might be necessary)
5. Click on “Network Integration”.
            a) Make sure the “Enable Network Integration” box is checked.
            b) In the Sponsors section, choose the “By Name” option.
            c) In the “Server Name:” field enter the name of the Microsoft HIS Servername on the Domain.
(Enter just the name of the server, not the Fully-Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), if the PC networking configuration can create and resolve the FQDN)
            d) In the SnaBase section, check the boxes for “Run SnaBase as an Application” and “Run as Logged-In User.”
6. Enabling Data Integration is not necessary for a 3270 client connection.
7. Click the Save icon to save this configuration to a file.
8. Click the Apply Configuration icon to make this configuration active.
9. For good measure, reboot the PC to make sure no previous configuration is active.

III. Extra! Installation and Configuration

1. Install the Extra! X-treme 9.5 software on the same PC.
                            or
Install InfoConnect Enterprise Edition 9.5 on the same PC
2. Launch a new Extra! X-treme IBM Mainframe Host session.
(if using InfoConnect, launch from the Extra! for Accessory Manger icon)
3. Choose 3270 Display.
4. Choose Microsoft SNA Server.
5. Click the “Add” button.
6. The Extra! session will go gather LU information assigned to the user from the HIS Server.
7. In the “Add LU resource” dialog, choose the appropriate Resource name or choose “Any.”
8. Click the OK button.
9. Click the Next button.
10. Choose the appropriate file transfer type or “None.”
11. Click the Next button.
12. Click the “Finish” button.
13. The Extra! host session will load and connect to the HIS Server.
