Environment

GWAVA 4 NETWARE 6.5, 6, 5.1 LINUX OES, SLES9.3, SLES10.x (this info is forth-coming)

Situation

Is it better to use a GWIA scanner or an MTA scanner?

Resolution

GWAVA 4 gives the option to install MTA and GWIA scanners.  We recommend installing the GWIA scanner for the following reasons:

1. Messages are better distinguished as outbound or inbound which allows outbound scanning to be completely removed.

2. GWAVA does not have to rely on Novell's decryption APIs.

3. GWAVA has access to the message envelope.

4. GWAVA is able to add signatures.

Note:  GWAVA 3 users can migrate their settings to either an MTA scanner or a GWIA scanner, without conflict.
