After system update ZCC Patch Configuration page shows tags instead of localized string and exception saving page

Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 2017

Situation

Some Patch Management pages in ZCC show tags instead of localized strings after update to 2017.  This does not happen for new install.

configuration.filtering.embedded
configuration.content.cleanup.title
configuration.content.cleanup.disabled.patches




Also, changing Subscription Service page and hitting OK causes error with the following in zcc.log:

[DEBUG] [02/13/2017 12:01:08.20] [1931] [ZENServer] [122] [zenworks] [ZCC] [] [java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.patchlink.sapphire.web.pages.vulnerability.subscription.PatchSubscriptionCredentials.onSaveSettings(PatchSubscriptionCredentials.java:282)


Resolution

This is fixed in version 2020 - see KB 7024113 "ZENworks Configuration Management 2020 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7024113

For previous versions, workaround:

at this directory:

/opt/novell/zenworks/share/tomcat/webapps/zenworks/WEB-INF/lib
%ZENWORKS_HOME%/share/tomcat/webapps/WEB-INF/lib

Find duplicate jar:

zpm-ui-11.4.jar

which is duplicate of:
 zpm-ui-17.0.jar

move the older  zpm-ui-11.4.jar

out of the ZENWORKS folder and restart services:

novell-zenworks-configure -c Start

select Restart and enter twice.
