Situation

After applying Microsoft patch MS15-011 / KB Article ID 3000483, users experience intruder lockouts. Intruder lockout has been reported after repeatedly locking and unlocking the workstation, after changing the eDirectory password, and even when simply browsing the Novell mapped drive.

Intruder lockouts occur even if UNC Hardened Access is not configured / enabled.

After removing the patch, the problem is resolved.

Resolution

This is fixed in Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows (IR10b) or later.

Workaround available prior to the fix becoming available:
To avoid the problem, remove the MS15-011 patch on affected systems.
One method to remove the MS15-11 patch is to execute this command:
wusa /uninstall /kb:3000483 /quiet /promptrestart
