Imaging Fails on Devices with Intel i218-LM Network Card

Situation

  • Trying to image a device with Intel i218-LM network card. The following models are known to be affected:
    • HP Z440
    • HP EliteBook 850 G2 Notebook PC
  • Not able to access the network when booted into Imaging Maintenance Mode
  • Using newid="0x8086 0x15a0,e1000e" as a boot parameter causes the boot process to hang
The following may be seen while trying to image a device:

ERROR:
Could not find the ZENworks Repository.
Activating manual setup program.

Resolution

This is fixed in the ZENworks Imaging Update for February 2015 - see KB 7002402 "How to obtain the latest ZENworks Imaging Updates" found at https://www.novell.com/support for details of how to obtain this update.

Cause

A newer version of the e1000e network driver is needed for the Intel i218-LM network card
