Mobility stops working after Shellshock patches are applied

Novell GroupWise Mobility Service

Situation

Getting error:06065064:digital envelope routines:EVP_DecryptFinal_ex:bad decrypt:evp_enc.c:330 while restarting GMS
GMS engine failed to load
Could not log into GMS web admin. Receive Illegal Server Error

Resolution

  1. Check server hostname
    hostname -f
  2. If the hostname has been modified by Shellshock patches; follow the steps in either option.
    • (Option A) Set hostname back to the previously used hostname
      1. Stop Mobility and Cron by typing rcgms stop; rccron stop and press Enter
      2. Launch YaST | Network Devices | Network Settings | Hostname/DNS and set the Hostname and Domain Name properly
      3. Save the Changes
      4. Restart the Server by typing init 6 and press Enter
    • (Option B) Reconfigure Mobility password encryption, with the new hostname
      1. Follow steps in TID 7015744
  3. Run /opt/novell/datasync/update.sh
