Error HTTP Status 500: Not an ISO 8859-1 character when viewing documents as HTML

Situation

When viewing certain files in Filr as HTML, the user may experience an error stating "HTTP Status 500 - Not an ISO 8859-1 character: <character>".

Resolution

Newer versions of the Oracle Outside In converters [v8.4.1] (formerly stellent converters) appear to support these characters and successfully convert the documents.

A patch (updated Oracle Outside In converters) for this is available for Filr 1.0.1; please contact Novell Technical Support with reference to this TID to obtain the patch.

Cause

The version of Oracle Outside In converters [v8.3.7] shipped with Filr 1.0.0/1.0.1 failed to convert certain characters resulting in this error condition.
