Environment

Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2 Imaging

Situation

ZCM is installed in a Linux based Primary server.
The PolicyLogLevel has been set to highest debug level 4 in /etc/opt/novell/zenworks/preboot/novell-zmgprebootpolicy.conf.

The novell-zmgprebootpolicy daemon  might go into dead status when trying to dump the ZENworks image save data into the log file.

The last entries in the related log file  /var/opt/novell/log/zenworks/preboot/novell-zmgprebootpolicy.log look like:
"...
Recvd packet 1 of 2 (len = 1462, offset = 0, total = 1903)
Recvd packet 2 of 2 (len = 441, offset = 1462, total = 1903)
Received an OPCODE_REQ_PXE_MENU packet from <device IP Address>
..."

Resolution

This is fixed in version 11.2.3a - see KB 7011295 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2.3a - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7011295

Workaround

Reduce the PolicyLogLevel to 3 or lower in /etc/opt/novell/zenworks/preboot/novell-zmgprebootpolicy.conf
