Environment

Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 10.3 System Update
Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11 System Update
Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.1 System Update
Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2 System Update

Situation

If a device has the Bundle Management agent component set to uninstalled (see ZENworks Agent Settings in ZENworks Adaptive Agent which is part of ZENworks 11 SP2 System Administration Reference) during an upgrade from one agent version to another, then the novell-zenworks-windows-desktop-langs MSI file which forms part of the agent is not upgraded. The MSI file does not get automatically upgraded if the component is later marked for installation.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 11.2.1 - see KB 7010042 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7010042

Cause

The language MSI was treated as part of the core agent for standalone purposes, but as part of Bundles for System Update. So if the component was uninstalled at the time of upgrade, it was ignored: if it was later marked for install, the process assumed that the upgrade had taken place, and the MSI was not upgraded.

Additional Information

The MSI is only used for the NAL (Application Launcher) EXEs and DLLs, and is it possible that there may be strings (messages) that have been upgraded between versions that are not present in this scenario, but Novell has not had any reports of this issue causing any problems.
