Cannot PXE boot some devices that use the Intel e1000e driver

Environment

Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Support Pack 1 - ZDM7 SP1 Imaging
Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management on Linux Support Pack 1 - ZDML7 SP1 Imaging
Novell ZENworks 11 Configuration Management Imaging
Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management Imaging
Novell ZENworks 7.3 Linux Management - ZLM7.3

Situation

PXE boot fails with devices such as
Dell Optiplex 990
Dell Latitude E6420
Compaq 4000 SFF desktops

These all use the e1000e driver, and have Intel 82567V Gigabit Ethernet
or Intel®  Q67 Express & Intel®  82579LM LAN Ethernet 10/100/1000
or Mobile Intel®  QM67 Express, Intel®  Centrino®  Ultimate-N 6300 ó Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6205

Resolution

For ZCM11: This is fixed in version 11.1 - see KB 7008746 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

For ZCM 10: This is fixed in version 10.3.4 - see KB 7008244 "ZENworks Configuration Management 10.3.4 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

For ZDM7: This is fixed in the ZENworks Imaging Update for June 2011- see KB 7002402 "How to obtain the latest ZENworks Imaging Updates" found at https://www.novell.com/support for details of how to obtain this update.

For ZLM7.3: This is fixed in the ZENworks Imaging Update for June 2011- see KB 7002402 "How to obtain the latest ZENworks Imaging Updates" found at https://www.novell.com/support for details of how to obtain this update.



Workaround:
add

to z_auto.cmd (see KB 3757537  How to add multiple Hardware with Parameter"newid" for details)
