Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 3
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 2
Novell iPrint Client for Windows 5.82
Novell iPrint Client for Windows 5.56
Windows XP Professional Support Pack 2
Windows 7

Situation

Unable to upload OCE CS2436, iPF8100 and iPF9100  Drivers to Driver Store using iManager. Fails with following error :-
"Check that the Driver Store (idsd) is loaded"

idsd.log reports following error :-

"INFO ProcessEndDriverDataReq: Invocation of AddResource() failed with error 1280"

Resolution

Possible Workaround 1:-
iprntcmd.exe -U <IPADDRESS> <admin> <Password> <Path to drivers .inf file>

Example:
iprntcmd.exe -U 192.168.2.7 admin novell c:\SomeFolder\iPF8100-Drv-Win64-416\driver\6WJF06M.inf

Note 1: iprntcmd.exe is spelled without the second "i"
Note 2:- The "iprntcmd" command should be run on the workstation for which drivers are needed. For example, if you want to upload win7 64bit drivers then you need to run the command from win7 64 bit workstation which has MS Patch for UPD's installed.

Possible Workaround 2:-
For some drivers the section titled "Upload print drivers to Driver Store using Windows iPrntman executable" within TID 3000249 Create iPrint objects on OES Linux without iManager will workaround the problem.

However, this workaround does not succeed in all cases. Novell is investigating this issue.

Additional Information

The above listed workaround is valid for the OCE CS2436 driver.  However, the same steps do not work for Canon iPF8100 & iPF9100 drivers.
