ZCM11: Cannot monitor ZENworks System Update Content Replication

Environment

Novell ZENworks 11 Configuration Management Content
Novell ZENworks 11 Configuration Management ZENworks Control Center - ZCC

Situation

Cannot determine if System Update required content (MSIs / RPMs) has reached the ZENworks Content Servers.

In the deployments, where closest servers rules have been configured in a way as to prevent the Managed Devices to fetch content from anywhere other than the assigned Content Servers, this could cause the Update to fail on such devices if the content is not yet replicated to this server.

In case of a multi Primary Server zone, this could also lead to failure in deployment package rebuild if the content is not yet replicated on the current Primary Server.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 11.1 - see KB 7008746 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Workaround: if it is not possible to upgrade to 11.1 at this time, in the interim, Novell has made a Patch  available for testing, in the form of a Field Test File (FTF): it can be obtained at https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=bqxKYcqeQ-Q~ as "ZCM 11 Monitoring System Update Content Replication - see TID 7007211". This Patch should only be applied if the symptoms above are being experienced, and are causing problems.
This Patch has had limited testing, and should not be used in a production system without first being checked in a test environment. Some Patches have specific requirements for deployment, it is very important to follow any instructions in the readme at the download site. Please report any problems encountered when using this Patch, by using the feedback link on this TID.

After applying the patch, visit the "Release Details" of any update (ZCC > Configuration> System Update> Click on any update name in the "Available System Updates" snapshot) on this Primary Server and there will be a new link "Replication Status" to check the replication state of its content. This link will be disabled for the updates which are not yet downloaded or imported in the zone.
