ZDM7 NAL and Remote Management functions do not work after uninstalling ZCM 11 (ZAM/ZAI) agent

Environment

Novell ZENworks 11 Configuration Management Inventory
Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Support Pack 1 - ZDM7 SP1 Management Agent

Situation

  1. ZCM 11 Agent (with only Inventory functions enabled) installed on device with ZDM7 agent.
  2. ZCM11 Agent is removed
  3. NAL will no longer launch, and Remote Control no longer works (Inventory, DLU and Roaming Profiles still work)
ERROR: 1456: The Remote Management Agent is unable to read information from the eDirectory server. Verify that the workstation object is valid and the Middle Tier server is up and running

Resolution

This is fixed in version 11.1 - see KB 7008746 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Workaround:
uninstall and then re-install the ZDM7 agent

Additional Information

Note that this problem does not refer to the Inventory-only agent, but to the ZENworks Adaptive Agent, when only Inventory is active.
