Environment
Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 10.3
Situation
A general refresh does not occur on the device when its IP address changes. In some situations this can result in the device becoming temporarily unmanageable. For example:
- User powers up laptop in Office A and receives address 10.0.0.1 from DHCP
- Agent refreshes and information is sent to the database
- User walks from Office A to Meeting room B and receives address 192.168.1.1 from wireless access point
- Administrators can no longer contact this ZCM agent because the database contains the "old" address of 10.0.0.1 for that device
Resolution
This is fixed in version 10.3.1 - see KB 7006265 "ZENworks Configuration Management 10.3.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support
Workaround:
A user can manually trigger a full refresh from the device to update the database and allow remote management, policy enforcement, content delivery etc.
