Environment
Novell iPrint for NetWare
Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 8
Microsoft Windows 7
Situation
The server has the iprntnw65sp8b patch applied. When trying to install a printer to a Windows 7 workstation from the http://<serverip/dnsname>/ipp, after clicking on Yes to install the printer, the install will start and then return this error:
Error message: iPrint Client - The print support file/driver was not found or is not currently available.
Error group: iPrint Client
Error code 1047
Error group: iPrint Client
Error code 1047
Also when trying to install the iPrint client to a Windows 7 workstation from the same ipp page, it appears to be starting and then returns the error:
Error: "Unsupported client type"
In other instances, it is observed that the iPrint client install succeeds, but the nipp.exe from the Windows Vista repository is downloaded to the Windows 7 machine. Because the nipp.exe from Windows Vista and Windows 7 is the same, it can succeed. However, this bug can be confusing as administrators have the option to change the nipp.exe version for each OS type.

Resolution
A Windows 7 printer driver is not associated with the iPrint printer.
See KB 7004814 for instructions to obtain Windows 7 support for your iPrint server. Once the server supports Windows 7 and Windows7 printer drivers are uploaded to the Driver Store or Broker, then associate the Windows 7 printer driver to the printer agent.
