Quick task port unavailable and Agent service shutdown hangs when firewall service is set to manual

Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 2 - 10.2

Situation

  1. Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) set to manual causes quicktask port not to open.
    ERROR (in ZCC): Unable to connect through IP Address or Host Nam
  2. Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) set to disabled causes timeout when manually stopping the ZENworks Agent service."
    ERROR: "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion ."

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.2.1 - see KB 7003766 "ZENworks 10 Configuration Management 10.2.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support
