Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 2 - 10.2
Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 2 - 10.2 ZENworks Control Center - ZCC
Business Objects Enterprise
Windows 2003 Server hosting ZCM services
Microsoft SQL Server running on server other than ZCM server

Situation

ZCM is slow overall after upgrade to ZCM 10.2

ZCC takes several seconds to load and navigate from page to page

User login to ZCM is slow

Restarting zenserver seems to make ZCM login and ZCC perform faster, but after several minutes to an hour, the system is slow again.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.2.2 - see KB 7004803 "ZENworks 10 Configuration Management 10.2.2 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at Novell Support

Additional Information

An initial step to narrow down the slowness in this instance was to prevent the Business Objects reporting server components from loading on the system.

Use Process Monitor from SysInternals to filter on zenserver.exe.  In this instance, zenserver.exe was attempting to load BOE jar files every few seconds from  \businessobjects\enterprise115\desktoplaunch\WEB-INF\lib .  BOE was previously thought to have been uninstalled, but remnants in the file system and the registry seemed to indicate that BOE was not completely uninstalled.  This system was originally installed with ZCM 10.0 with the original version of BOE.

To remove instances of BOE from the system, stop the ZENworks Monitor, zenloader and zenserver
Remove the ..\boe\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\java\applications\desktop.war file
Remove the ..\businessobjects folder and all of the sub-folders
Restart the ZENworks services
