Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 2 - 10.2

Situation

The backlash escape characters from Windows registry export files are not removed when being imported into a ZCM bundle

Symptoms
ZCM agent creates registry values containing additional backslashes.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.2.1 - see KB 7003766 "ZENworks 10 Configuration Management 10.2.1 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Workaround
Manually Remove additional backslashes when importing a registry export file into a bundle regedit action.

Additional Information

Windows registry export files can contain the backslash escape character to mask special characters e.g.:
\"C:\\Program Files\\7-Zip\\7zFM.exe\" \"%1\"

When importing such a registry export file into a bundle regedit action, such backslashes are not removed by the ZENworks Control Center during import and also the respective adaptive agent action handler does not remove them which results in corrupt registry values.
