Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 1 - 10.1 System Update
Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management 10.1.2

Situation

When applying an update to 10.1.2 or higher, (for Windows servers, this is , after the server reboots,) the agent deployment packages are rebuilt, this is different to earlier versions.

With the upgrade to 10.1.2, there is no indication that this is happening.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.1.3 - see KB 7002526 "ZENworks 10 Configuration Management 10.1.3" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

With 10.1.3 onwards, a separate status of "Rebuilding Deployment Packages" is shown

Additional Information

The behavior with 10.1.2 onwards is different to previous versions. Previously, updates would need to be "baselined" before the deployment packages were upgraded (this is to minimise the chance that a newer agent would register with a server running an older version). Now, the agent packages are rebuilt at the end of the update process on each server. If the process is interrupted (for example rebooting a Linux server before the process completes), the command
ZMAN SURP can be used - see the On-line Documentation for ZMAN at https://www.novell.com/documentation
