Situation
Many zmd-messages.log* files in the directory
/var/opt/novell/log/zenworks
The related hard disk partition fills up eventually crashing the managed device.

Resolution
To obtain access to a hot patch with the fix for this problem, follow the instructions in KB 3469853 "Updates to Novell ZENworks 7.2 Linux Management" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support
Workarounds:
You can automate log file cleanup, e.g., by configuring a cron job or the logrotate daemon. A suitable script to create the cron job can be obtained by following this link https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=vTO41oZ9WP8~
Alternatively, clean up old zmd-messages.log files manually

Additional Information
The zmd-messages.log file should grow up to the maximum configured
log file size (default is 10 MB) and only the predefined numbers of
backup log files should be kept (default value is 1).
The local device logging can be configured in the ZENworks Control Center at Configuration -> Local Device Logging.
