Novell ZENworks 7 Linux Management - ZLM7
Situation
When using the text file policy wizard and creating a 'search string' the setting does not seem to take.
Resolution
To obtain access to a hot patch with the fix for this problem, follow the instructions in KB 3469853 "Updates to Novell ZENworks 7.2 Linux Management" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support
Additional Information
This issue is only a ZCC display problem while resetting the existing policy "search string" data in the text box. The policy search string data is correctly stored and used in the client side for enforcing the policy successfully .
Steps to recreate:
1. Create a simple 'text file' policy.
2. Enter the following:
a. Policy Name : test
b. file name: (select a file on target system, we are trying to change etc/sysconfig/secchk
c. Change name: Change START_SECCHK to no
d. Change mode: Search file.
e. Search string: START_SECCHK="yes"
f. deselect case sensitive
g. Search occurance: All
h. Result Action : Replace String
i. New String: START_SECCHK="no"
k. No pre or post change action
Click on next then finish.
Open the policy details and you will see no search string.
