Environment
Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management
Situation
Random hangs on only some managed workstations at various times. The hang occurs only when logging in as domain user with ZENworks passive mode login enabled. Symptom is blue screen (Windows starting up) or desktop partially appearing after login sequence entered. Log files show that login was successful, and the server is not in a high utilization or unresponsive state.
Resolution
This is fixed in version 10.0.3 - see KB 3486285 "Updates to ZENworks 10 Configuration Management" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support
Workaround: Bypassing the zenlogin by logging into a local workstation account allowed the login. Then logging off and logging in as realm user (AD login) works correctly.
