Situation

ERROR 817 Internal error on SCANDIR folder during ZDM 7 install to OES server
ERROR "817:An internal error occurred while creating rights for the SCANDIR directory on the server"
ZDM7 Linux must have [Root] partion on installation server.

Resolution

Fixed in ZENworks 7 with SP1 Desktop Management, available at https://download.novell.com

It may also be necessary to delete the Inventory objects that were created when the install failed and re-run the install. See TID 10100787 for details.

Additional Information

The ZDM7 Linux installation assumes that the server who provided the information about [ROOT] also has the SCANDIR mounted. This will not work, because SCANDIR is mounted on the ZDM7 Linux server.
