Environment

Novell ZENworks 7 Server Management Support Pack 1 - ZSM7 SP1
Novell ZENworks Desktop Management 6.5 - ZDM6.5 Remote Management
Novell ZENworks Desktop Management 7 - ZDM7 Remote Management

Situation

Whenever Remote Control is started with a workstation, by default numlock is switched off on the machine being controlled during the session. When the session ends, if the num lock had previously been on, it is switched back on again.

Resolution

For ZDM7: Fixed in ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Service Pack 1 Interim Release 3a, available at https://download.novell.com

For ZDM6.5: Fixed in Novell ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management Support Pack 2 Interim Release 1 - see KB 3665027 "Updates to Novell ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management" at https://www.novell.com/support

In the Registry of the Agent machine (the one to be controlled), create a DWORD:
HKLM\Software\Novell\ZENworks\Remote Management\RMAgent,"SyncNumKey"
If the value is set to:
0 - (or if the value does not exist) the NUMLOCK will be switched off.
1 - will ensure that the state of NUMLOCK matches that of the controlling workstation.
2 - NUMLOCK status will be retained on CONSOLE/AGENT.

Additional Information

Note this fix does not work for an agent running on Windows98
