zmd wakeup takes a long time

Environment

Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10

Novell ZENworks 7.2 Linux Management - ZLM7.2

Situation

zmd takes up to an hour to wake up when running rug, and maxes the CPU.

Resolution

To obtain access to a hot patch with the fix for this problem, follow the instructions in KB 3469853 "Updates to Novell ZENworks 7.2 Linux Management" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Workaround
run:
rug restart --clean
The clean option deletes and recreates the zmd.db which corrects problems with fragmentation.

Additional Information

The helpers take a long time in reading zmd.db due to its size and fragmentation.
