Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management
Microsoft Windows Vista

Situation

When manually taking an image of a second primary partition using the I= parameter (e.g., -I=2) and then attempting to restore that image to the device using advanced parameters (e.g., -ap=a1:p1) the imaging engine opens and looks like it is starting to copy file (i.e., a filename appears above the progress bar), but the imaging engine hangs.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.0.1 - see KB 3486285 "Updates to ZENworks 10 Configuration Management" which can be found athttps://www.novell.com/support

Additional Information

An example of this problem:

1. Make an image of the 2nd partition: img -mp part2vista.zmg -include=2
2. Restore that image to the 2nd partition: img -rp part2vista.zmg -ap=a1:p2

The imaging engine begins to copy files and hangs where is says "Restoring: $Extend\$Reparse"

If "Reproduce step 1" is performed on an XP machine and then perform step 2 on a Vista machine there are no problems. The problem occurs only when taking and restoring on a Vista machine.

This works fine in XP, even the image taken from Vista that can't be restored to vista will restore fine to an XP machine.
