Auto update of Zen partition from ZfD 3.2 SP3 to ZDM 6.5 SP1 fails

Environment

Novell ZENworks Desktop Management 6.5 - ZDM6.5 Imaging

Situation

After upgrading the server(s) to ZDM 6.5 SP1, a workstation with a ZfD 3.2 SP3 ZENworks partition boots up, contacts the upgraded proxy server, and attempts an update of the ZENworks partition. Then the workstation gets into a reboot loop.

Resolution

Fixed in an update to ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management, see KB 3665027 "Updates to Novell ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management" which can be found at Novell Support

Additional Information

STEPS TO REPRODUCE :
1. Take a working ZENworks 3.2 SP3 boot partition machine.

2. Upgrade the proxy server to ZENworks 6.5 SP1.

3. Reboot the workstation

4. Linux boots, checks for an available update to the ZEN partition, and reboots looping back into linux.

RESULTS: Machine will only boot to the ZEN partition, not to the operating system.
