Novell ZENworks Desktop Management 6.5 - ZDM6.5 Remote Management

Situation

On XP, zfdagent.msi using /a switch installs win98 version of rcagent.dll.

Resolution

Fixed in Novell ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management Support Pack 2 Interim Release 1 - see KB 3665027 "Updates to Novell ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management" at https://www.novell.com/support

Additional Information

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  1. msiexec.exe /a zfdagent.msi
  2. When it prompts for a network location, point it to any folderother than the folder where the zfdagent.msi is.
  3. Go browse to the folder where all the ZEN agent files have beenextracted.
  4. Browse to . .\PROGRAM FILES\NOVELL\ZENWORKS\RemoteManagement\RMAgent
  5. Notice that rcagent.dll is dated 11/14/2005 3:42 PM – this is theWin98 version
  6. Remote control does not work with this version.
  7. Install the zfdagent.msi from extracted files.
  8. Reboot
