Installation requirements, as well as instructions for the Microsoft Active Directory SPI, are documented in the Configuration Guide for HP Operations Smart Plug-in for Microsoft Active Directory provided in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. The document file (ActiveDirectory_Config.pdf) is included on the DVD in the Documentation folder.
You must deploy the WINOSSPI_MSWINSys_AutoDiscovery policy—a Windows OS SPI policy—on the node before deploying the ADSPI_Discovery policy. If the policy autodeployment setting is enabled, you must deploy the WINOSSPI_MSWINSys_AutoDiscovery policy before you begin the installation or upgrade of the Microsoft Active Directory SPI.
Upgrade note: After you upgrade the Microsoft Active Directory SPI from an older version, all nodes must be managed by the latest version of the SPI. Different Active Directory nodes cannot be managed by different versions of the Microsoft Active Directory SPI.
Upgrading the agent: If you want to upgrade the DCE agent on an existing node to an HTTPS agent, you must apply the necessary hotfix on the node. To obtain the hotfix necessary for DCE-to-HTTPS agent migration, contact HP Software Support. You can go to the HP Software Support web site and submit a support case to obtain the hotfix.
Post-uninstall note: After you uninstall Active Directory programs, you will need to manually delete the SPI for Active Directory policies from the HPOM console.
Before installing the Microsoft Active Directory SPI, make sure that your system meets the following minimum requirements:
QXCR1000852160 : Reports appear without data
QXCR1000845338 : Operations Topology Viewer is not localized in Japanese
QXCR1000833194 : The ADSPI-FSMO_RoleMvmt policy fails
Automatic discovery does not work on all the managed nodes with HTTPS agents. As a result, the Microsoft Active Directory SPI does not update the service map on the management server.
Re-deploy one of the following policy depending on the type of node:
SPI for Active Directory > en > Windows Server 2003/2000 > Auto-Deploy > Discovery> Basic Discovery > ADSPI_Discovery.
or,
SPI for Active Directory > en > Windows Server 2008> Auto-Deploy > Discovery> Basic Discovery > ADSPI_Discovery.
The map view in the HPOM console does not reflect the states of the messages from Windows 2008 nodes.
None.
Windows Event Log policies may not work if the managed Domain Controller is hosted on a virtual machine running on VMware.
None.
