In This Version

HPOM SA integrates System Availability Management Administration (SAM Admin) into HPOM. SAM Admin enables you to configure and manage multiple SiteScope instances centrally from within HPOM.

HPOM now includes a SAM Admin window that opens when you start SAM Admin from the HPOM console. The SAM Admin window shows a summary of all SiteScope servers accessible to the HPOM system. In this window, you can manage SiteScope configurations for one or more SiteScope servers centrally from one SiteScope instance to another.

Known Problems, Limitations, and Workarounds

Known Problem/Limitation Description Solution
No automatic reconnection to SiteScope following a SiteScope restart. SiteScope is restarted every night. Just before performing a restart, SiteScope sends a web page to the connected client containing the message: SiteScope is currently restarting. This screen remains open in the SAM Admin window, even when SiteScope has already restarted. This is because the SAM Admin application cannot reconnect automatically to SiteScope following a SiteScope restart Start the SAM Admin application again manually to close the message window, and to reconnect to SiteScope.
An attempt to register SiteScope causes an error message. If you have already registered SiteScope, and you attempt to register it again, an unclear error message results. No action is required.
The summary PDF report from the SiteScope Global Search and Replace wizard is created with no content when you start SAM Admin through the embedded Java GUI browser. The SiteScope Global Search and Replace wizard generates a summary report showing all the replaces that have been executed. You can export this report to a PDF document. If you start the SAM Admin application from the embedded Java GUI browser, rather than using an external web browser, the created PDF is blank. If you want to print the summary PDF report, you need to start the SAM Admin application using an external web browser.
You cannot replace entire categories for an object using the SiteScope General Search and Replace wizard with a single click (on the upper node level of the categories tree). In SiteScope, you can categorize objects (for example, monitors or the database) using categories from the categories tree. You can then filter your view by these categories. You can replace the categories assignment using the Global Search and Replace wizard. If you want to assign an object to have all categories, and you choose the upper node on the categories tree, it is not possible to do this all at once with one click of the mouse. You need to assign categories to an object by choosing the categories one at a time.
Pressing the Help button in the Global Search and Replace wizard prompts an additional log on. There is a Help button provided on each page of the General Search and Replace wizard. When you press the Help button, even though you are already logged on, you need to log on again to access the help when prompted. Enter your credentials again to log on to the Help.
