Summary

One of the possible reasons that connection to PowerTerm during Vugen recording of RTE protocol may fail is because of the incorrect value for Terminal Name. This value should be the value of the environment variable setting for TERM in the host system.

Question

What should I do if PowerTerm does not get launched during Vugen recording of Terminal Emulation (RTE) protocol?

Answer

Open a command window and do the following at the command prompt:

  1. Please cd Loadrunnerin folder
For example:

>      cd <LoadRunner installation directory>\bin

  1. At the command prompt, type “rtegate -bypass” (without the quotes).

  1. The powerterm window will come up. Click on “Communication” on the top toolbar and then from the pulldown menu, chose "connect".

  1. In the connect window, enter the hostname. For “Terminal Name” enter “ansi” (without quotes). The value of  Terminal Name should be the value of the environment variable setting for “TERM” in your host system. Enter Terminal Type and ID.

Note: If the value of “Terminal Name”  is incorrectly entered, it will not be possible to connect to PowerTerm.
