Summary

After upgrade OVIS from Version 6.10 to 6.20 with SQL Server 2005 the OVIS Configuration Manager doesn't start anymore...Error message "Required table(s) are not found in the Internet Services / Reporter Database. The database may need repair or reinstallation of Internet Services may be required".....

Error

After upgrade OVIS from Version 6.10 to 6.20 the OVIS Configuration Manager doesn't start anymore.
Error message "Required table(s) are not found in the Internet Services / Reporter Database. The database may need repair or reinstallation of Internet Services may be required".

OV Reporter is running on the same system and is working fine.
OVIS Database is a SQL-Server 2005, OVIS connects remote to this database, IOPS tables are in the Database available.

Cause

ODBC System DNS is "Reporter", ODBC driver is "SQL Native Client", but one has to use "SQL Server" driver per manual
OVIS 6.20 "HP OpenView Internet Services SQL Server and Oracle Database Configuration Guide".

Fix

Asked customer to delete the System DSN "Reporter" and add it in again, this time using the "SQL Server" driver.

NB: Reporter seems to work fine when using "SQL Native Client", but OVIS doesn't.

Customer deleted the Reporter entry in ODBC, added it back in using Reporter and "SQL Server",
 deinstalled OVIS, reboot
 installed OVIS, reboot
now all works as expected
