What's New in This Release?

For this release, HP Operations Dashboard is only intended to run in either the BEA WebLogic Portal 8.1 with SP 4 or the Jetspeed 2.1.1 portal environment. The Jetspeed 2.1.1 portal environment is provided with HP Operations Dashboard.

• SQL Datasource Visualization portlet for RealTime Health View only
• Solaris certification for Service Navigator, Service Desk, and Operations Manager for UNIX Adapters

HP Operations Dashboard Operations View contains these new features:

• WAP Portlets
• SQL Data Source
• NNM Dynamic View

New Product Names

HP OpenView Dashboard is now HP Operations Dashboard. The products with which Operations Dashboard has integrations have also changed. For example, OVO for Windows is now HPOM for Windows. Due to these product name changes, product names in the documentation may temporarily differ from the names you see on the software.

Enhancements

1000424175: Service Browser Portlet throws a NULL Pointer Exception on startup.

1000377783: If multi-byte chars are included in OVO/W service descriptions, OVSN modules will not work due to missing service definitions.

1000370406: Generic module integration with Radia Reporting server does not work.

1000364574: When using certain versions of IIS, if the website   uses deflate compression, then the proxy fails to uncompress.

1000364662: With OVIS 6.10 and OVPM 6.x installed on the same management station, the integration to OVPM works, but the OVIS module fails and displays a java.util.NoSuchElementException.

1000366191: Fixes from SIP 3.2 8th aggregate patch need to be included in OPSView.

1000360241: Status of services do not show correctly in Service Graph portlet.

1000356632: Drilldown from SN portlets gives a null pointer exception.

1000364918: Fixes from SIP 3.2 7th aggregate patch need to be included in OPSView.

1000346190: Topology display inconsistent in SIP.

1000340051: Cannot print topomap or service graph images from IE.

1000352890: OVPI integration fails to display graphics with multiple instances on same page.

Known Problems, Limitations, and Workarounds

This release notes contains certain limitations in the product and workaround to help solve those limitations are mentioned below.

• Limitation: Realtime Health View and Operations View have different sets of portlets and portlet functionalities. RealTime Health View portlets functionality do not apply to Operations View portlets or vice versa.
• Limitation: If you want to open the portal page from System Tray by clicking on any of the dashboards, you need to login to view the page.
• Limitation: Portal gives Native thread exception for the HP-UX 11.00 and HP-UX 11.11 installation.
  
  Workaround: This problem occurs because the max_thread_proc and nkthread kernel parameters are set too low.
  
  -For psets and FSS groups on HP-UX 11.00, set max_thread_proc to at least 192 and on HP-UX 11.11, set max_thread_proc to at least 768. For virtual partitions, set max_thread_proc to at least 768.
  
  -Set nkthread to allow for your max_thread_proc value and the number of threads needed by all the other processes on the system.
  
• Limitation: Sometimes the dashboard name appears as Newdashboard after deploying a dashboard.
  
  Workaround: Go to the Content Selection or Dashboard Editor tab, save and deploy the dashboard. If you still see the dashboard name as Newdashboard, modify any of the dashboard properties such as name and label; save; and deploy it again.
• Limitation: If you change the map type in Global Map view and redeploy a dashboard, system does not let to redeploy the dashboard.
  
  Workaround: In addition to change the map type, edit the dashboard from Dashboard Editor tab, save and redeploy the dashboard.
• Limitation: Custom map image does not appear on the portal server sometimes.
  
  Workaround: The custom map image should be a jpg image.
• Limitation: If you configure Operations Dashboard with Oracle database, Pie chart does not appear in the SQL Visualization portlet in RealTime Health View.
  
  Workaround: Use commercial oracle driver such as Easysoft drivers.
  
• Limitation: On upgradation of Realtime Health View, starting the configuration manager results in a "main class not found" error.
  
  Workaround: Use the installer to repair the application, using the Repair option.
  
• Limitation: On upgradation of Realtime Health View, saving the database configuration using the configuration manager results in a "unable to connect to the database" error.
  
  Workaround: Run the following command from the command line:
  "OSQL.EXE" -E -S .\OVDASHBOARD -d ovddb -i "<install_dir>\misc\dashboard\rhview\server\migration_script_MSSQL.sql" -o "<install_dir>\misc\dashboard\rhview\server\sql_upgrade.log"
  Note: The above applies only when you are using the bundled SQL Express database. If MSSQL Enterprise Edition is being used with Operations Dashboard, execute the SQL script file - "<install_dir>\misc\dashboard\rhview\server\migration_script_MSSQL.sql" on the database server.
• Limitation: Portlet applications created in Operations Dashboard 2.0 are not migrated to 2.1
  
  Workaround: Close the Operations View Admin GUI and execute the script "<install_dir>\support\dashboard\opview\MigrateOpsViewApps.bat"
  If the above does not resolve the issue, clone the portlet application and deploy.
