Instructions for installing the NNM/RAMS Integration Module are documented in the NNM/RAMS Integration Module Installation Guide. The installation guide is included in the product download package as:
./Docs/Integration/NNM_RAMS_integrationinstall.pdf
When you install the NNM/RAMS Integration Module, the manuals and release notes are copied into the following location on your NNM management station:
$OV_WWW/htdocs/$LANG/manuals/
%OV_WWW%\htdocs\%LANG%\manuals\
Updated versions of the manuals and release notes are posted on the HP OpenView Product Manuals web site at http://ovweb.external.hp.com/lpe/doc_serv/. Visit this site to obtain the latest versions.
Before you install the NNM/RAMS Integration Module, make sure that your system meets the following minimum requirements:
Ensure that the following prerequisite consolidated patches and their most recent patches (June 2006 or later) are installed on all systems in the management environment prior to installing the Integration Module.
To download the patches, go to http://support.openview.hp.com and select Software Patches. The patch IDs of the minimum required patches are as follows:
Note: Java 1.5 JRE (Java Runtime Environment) is not supported for NNM RAMS IGP and Path History View.
Custom changes to the
You can merge changes from the original files in $OV_TMP
by copy
and paste. Modify varbind position changes as necessary. The description field
describes the varbinds and their new positions.
You can open multiple IGP views to display different IGP protocols. When more than one IGP view is opened, the views may display a mix of protocol information.
Workaround: Close windows opened for an IGP protocol before launching IGP views for a different IGP protocol.
OSPF and ISIS GRE Tunnel Down events are not correlated with APA
events.
(QXCR1000339753)
Workaround: Look at the detected string description in the Tunnel Down event for "tunnel router down" or "interface disabled," which indicates a layer 2 cause of the tunnel state.
When you enable the RAMS Adjacency Established event from the RAMS Web Admin GUI IGP Alerts page, the NNM management station may not receive RAMS Adjacency Established alarms.
Workaround: If none of the OV_RAMSD misconfiguration events are cancelled
when faults are restored, and you do not see Adjacency Established events in
the NNM alarm browser, verify this result by running
$OV_BIN/ovdumpevents -l {time}
. Search results for the text
"Established." If you do not find Adjacency Established alarms, enable the
event from the Alerts page again.
RAMS Ajacency Established events may not always cancel RAMS Adjacency Lost events for an adjacency between neighbors.
After you install the NNM/RAMS Integration Module, the installation
directory under /tmp
still exists.
Workaround: Clean the /tmp
directory after you install the
NNM/RAMS Integration Module.
If you uninstall the NNM/RAMS Integration Module on IPF platforms by
executing /opt/OV/Uninstall/HPOvRAMS/setup.bin
, you must first
set up the following path variables to find the 1.4 JRE:
export PATH=/opt/OV/jre/jre1.4/bin/IA64N/:$PATH
export
SHLIB_PATH=$SHLIB_PATH:/opt/OV/jre/jre1.4/lib/IA64N/server
export SHLIB_PATH=/opt/OV/jre/jre1.4/lib/IA64N/server
regedit
to launch the Registry Editor.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT\Parameters
By default, the /etc/nsswitch.conf
file will do machine
lookup first with DNS. You can change the /etc/nsswitch.conf
"hosts" line to search in the /etc/hosts
file, which is
generally faster. For example, change the line as follows:
There are currently no known documentation errors.
