What's New in This Release?

HP Operations Smart Plug-in for JMX Metric Builder (JMB) doesnot contain any new features for this release.

Installation Notes

JMB requires either one or all of the supported Application servers to be installed and configured. JMB operator version runs only on the HP Operations Manager management server. JMB works with the following Application server SPIs:

Known Problems, Limitations, and Workarounds

This release contains certain unresolved problems, some limitations, and there are workaround to help solve certain problems.

PROBLEM: The UDM metrics return value cannot be more than 2^31-1, to be logged through dsilog to the datasource.
WORKAROUND: Use calculated exposed metrics to return the metric values in smaller units.

The uninstallation process does not uninstall JMB completely

PROBLEM: In a cluster environment, the uninstallation process may not remove the JMX Metric Builder tool group, policy group, and some policies.
WORKAROUND: Delete the tool group, policy group and policies manually from the management server console.

Gather Metadata fails

PROBLEM: Gather Metadata fails due to timeout on the node in a network deployer scenario of the WebSphere Application Server.
WORKAROUND: On the node, perform the following steps:
  1. In <OvDataDir>/wasspi/wbs/conf/SPIConfig file add the following property : com.hp.openview.wasspi.collector.rmi.client.socket.timeout=<value in seconds>(preferably 10800 seconds, that is,3hrs ).
  2. In the instrumentation dir, /<OvAgentDir>/bin/instrumentation, run : wasspi_perl wasspi_ca -prod wbs -r -x metadata=on -i "<server Name>".
    <Server Name>.xml in /var/opt/OV/tmp/wbsspi is created.

<OvAgentDir> is typically /var/opt/OV/ on HP-UX, Linux, Solaris, and Tru64 managed nodes and /var/lpp/OV/ on AIX managed nodes, and \Program Files\HP\HP BTO Software\ on Windows managed nodes.

On the OM server, perform the following task:
Copy the output to /<OvAgentDir>/wasspi/wbs/conf/metadata/<fully qualified node name>/<Server Name>.xml.
For example: /<OvAgentDir>/wasspi/wbs/conf/metadata/btovm578.hp.com/<Server Name>.xml
