In This Version

HP OpenView Performance Insight (OVPI) is an operating environment for performance management.  HP OpenView Network Node Manager (NNM) is an operating environment for fault management and diagnostics. The RNS 7.0 CD contains packages for both environments, specifically, shared packages for OVPI,  report packs and associated datapipes for OVPI, Smart Plug-Ins (SPIs) for NNM, and value-add components for NNM.  In addition, the RNS 7.0 CD includes a package that integrates NNM and OVPI. When NNM and OVPI are integrated, the NNM operator can launch OVPI reports from multiple NNM interfaces, including the NNM alarm browser, Extended Topology Dynamic Views, and NNM maps (ovw).

The majority of OVPI-related packages have not changed since RNS 6.0 (August 2004). If a report pack or datapipe has changed since RNS 6.0, you will find details in the entry for the package.  The datapipes associated with each report pack are listed under the report pack.

Shared Packages for OVPI

These packages are considered prerequisite packages. You must install one or more of these packages before you install one or more for the OVPI Report Packs and Datapipes.

Common Properties Tables, version 3.5

The Common Property Tables package allows multiple reporting solutions produced by HP OpenView to share property data for objects common between the reporting solutions. Sharing property data eliminates duplication, allows the database to operate more efficiently, and simplifies the administration of report packs.

NOTE: As they become available, updated user guides are posted to the HP documentation web site. Before using a PDF that was bundled with the package on the RNS CD media, search the following web site for an updated version of the user guide:
