Why this topic needs to be documented and exposed?
It is important because SDM version 7.64 came by default with wrong Solr version, also, documentation refer to other one than base SW inside the installation pack.
What are the versions being affected?
All versions under 7.64, using elastic search about software Solr or Elastic Search, used on Indexing cartridge on Designer with SDM, probably using DAC.
What is the problem?
Using installation of SDM, as part of the installation pack, SDM install on disk the packed Solr software but with version 6.2.0.
So, user install it by default because the pack put it on the disk, so, user ignores documentation because trust better in what package set on disk. If it comes with installation then it works, or must work.
However, if customer creates an index cartridge, this would not use the search using Solr or Elastic search, this because this packed version is not supported.
Today must of the users are migrating to SDM 7.64, so, they fall into problems using bad elastic search version given on SDM installation pack.
Answer
Customer must follow certification matrix and use the proper Solr or Elastic search version stated on documentation.
Once downloaded from proper web site of the product, official page, the issues gone, so, search text using DAC will work without problem.

Documentation will illustrate more about it since SDM 7.65 and up. No before.
