Micro Focus is announcing the release of
Product: SecureData Mainframe zOs z/Protect
Version: 8.3.0
Languages: English
The following new key features are available with this version:
District decoupling
Introduced with SecureData Appliance 6.9.2, this feature allows a SecureData Appliance hostname to differ from the security district.
This simplifies operations by allowing SecureData hostnames to comply with local standards, or to be renamed—for example, if top-level domain names change after an acquisition or rebranding.
Extended character set support
Distributed versions of SecureData allow use of extended character ranges beyond the Printable ASCII set (32-126 decimal):
- the Printable Latin-1 Supplement (160-255)
- Latin Extended-A (256-383)
- the Euro Sign (8364)
Because of ASCII–EBCDIC mapping issues, SecureData z/Protect cannot support this entire range, and has rejected attempts to define Cryptids using formats whose alphabets define characters beyond Printable ASCII. As of this release, SecureData z/Protect now allows use of formats that include characters in the Printable Latin-1 Supplement (160-255). Formats with characters in the Latin Extended-A or that use the Euro Sign will still be rejected by SecureData z/Protect.
This improves the ability to protect a wider range of values, such as names with accented characters.
