Question

After a successful deployment of the WebSphere discovery and the management templates, the performance data is not being collected

  • Tracing

Enable tracing on the logs

  1. Stop Monitoring process
    1. /var/opt/OV/bin/instrumentation/WebSphere_Perl WebSphere_Config.pl  stopMonitoring
  2. Navigate to the instrumentation directory and edit this files setting them to trace mode
    1. /var/opt/OV/bin/instrumentation/WebSphere_Discovery_Log4j.properties
    2. /var/opt/OV/bin/instrumentation/WebSpherecmlog4j.properties
    3. /var/opt/OV/conf/WebSphere/wbsjmx/WebSphere_Config.collConfig
    4. /var/opt/OV/bin/instrumentation/WebSphere_Config.collConfig
    5. /var/opt/OV/tmp/WebSphere/collectionManager/WebSpherecmlog4j.properties
  3. Remove all previous log files from /var/opt/OV/log/WebSphere
  4. Open the file  /var/opt/OV/bin/instrumentation/WebSpherecmadvconfig.properties  and add any where  CMAdvConfig.DUMP_METRICS_TO_CSV=true
  5. Start monitoring:
    1.  /var/opt/OV/bin/instrumentation/WebSphere_Perl WebSphere_Config.pl  startMonitoring
  6. Gather the following direcotries
    1. /var/opt/OV/conf/WebSphere/wbsjmx/
    2. /var/opt/OV/tmp/WebSphere/
    3. /var/opt/OV/tmp/CSV
    4. /var/opt/OV/log/WebSphere/
  7. Open the file  /var/opt/OV/bin/instrumentation/WebSpherecmadvconfig.properties  and add any where  CMAdvConfig.DUMP_METRICS_TO_CSV=false
  8. Gather an ovcodautil dumpds <Web_Sphere DS> output
