Summary
Question
When SSO is configured in ALM its not possible to license share with Octane with the user internal to ALM
Because SSO authentication from Octane to ALM for license sharing purposes isn't likely to be implemented it is necessary to use an API Key generated within ALM
Answer
1) Go to the splash screen of ALM 15 and click the “API Key” link. The API configuration will appear.
2) Click the “API Access” button in the upper left
3) In the “API Key Name” specify a value like: Octane_License_Share
4) In the “User” field select the same ALM user that is currently identified in the “octane.conf” for the ALM license sharing
5) In the “Description” field specify a value like: Octane_License_Share

6) Click “Create”
7) Make note of the value of the “Client ID” and the “API key secret”, for example…
8) Make a backup copy of the “octane.conf”
9) In the Licenses sharing section, “name” parameter, specify the Client ID (Step 7) and “API key secret” (also Step 7)
10) Save changes
11) Restart Octane – monitor the wrapper.log for errors
