Summary

Autopass License Server Primary/Secondary Redundancy feature is fullt deprecated from version 10.5 onwards.

Question

  1. Autopass License Server Primary/Secondary Redundancy feature is fullt deprecated from version 10.5 onwards.

  2. APLS supports now clusteruing, Fail Over through a reverse proxy/loadbalancer. Inbuilt redundancy is not supported from Autopass 10.5 onwrds. So, we are asking customer to use their own Load Balancer setup behind the two APLS servers.

Answer

Autopass 10.5 version and onwards support SQL server and Postgres databases so customer can have and configure 2 APLS servers pointing to same database and ask those servers to be load balanced (Whichever LB the organization is using) with sticky sessions.

  • UFT User Documentation still can be available for users who have already configured the redundancy in existing versions, meaning , whether you are using 9.3 version and configured primary and secondary, then if user migrated/upgraded redundancy to 10.5 is still supported
Only fresh/newer installations of 10.5 onwards the inbuilt redundancy is not supported. Going forward this feature is deprecated and we strongly recommend customers to use their own load balancer.
  • This has not been documented in Autopass guide yet, but its visible in APLS UI screen of 10.5 incase customer does a fresh installation. Usage page at first login shows a message as follows:

The redundancy configuration is deprecated and support for the feature will be removed in near future. Please consider moving to one of the supported database, to configure failover support.

In summary , if customer is using 10.5 and newer versions and they need failover support, then please use one of the supported database (MSSQL,POSTGRES)  and ask those servers to be load balanced with the load balancer that their organization is using.
