Dear Micro Focus ALM/Quality Center and ALM Octane Customers,

We would like to let you know about an important policy change related to the license sharing capabilities between Micro Focus® ALM/Quality Center (“ALM/QC”) and Micro Focus ALM Octane™.

Micro Focus continues to invest in ALM/QC, ensuring that our solutions continue to lead the quality management market. In parallel, Micro Focus also continues to invest in ALM Octane, which is focused on addressing a different set of customer needs, including Enterprise Agile, DevOps Governance, and Agile Quality Management.

ALM Octane currently has two license models:

  • Standalone model: Licenses are installed directly in ALM Octane.
  • Shared license model: Licenses are allocated from ALM/QC and may be used in ALM Octane without the need to acquire and install standalone ALM Octane licenses.
To aid in streamlining our solutions for our customers, the following policy change will become effective January 15, 2020:
  • ALM Octane license sharing will be available for up to fifteen percent (15%) of the total number of your Full ALM/QC licenses.**
  • ALM/QC customers who wish to continue using all their ALM/QC licenses, or wish to share up to 15% of their licenses may continue to use their ALM/QC licenses without any further action required.
  • ALM/QC Customers can continue sharing more than 15% of licenses prior to January 15, 2020:
    • This will entitle you to migrate all of your existing shared ALM/QC licenses to ALM Octane standalone licenses, at no charge.
    • Customers wishing to migrate more than 15% of licenses from ALM/QC to ALM Octane must inform Micro Focus via their Account Representative prior to January 15, 2020.
    • All migrated ALM Octane Standalone licenses must be activated by April 15, 2020.
  • After January 15, 2020, migration from ALM/QC to ALM Octane Standalone licenses will require a migration fee.
  • Customers will be entitled to a discount on the migration fee for the first migration.
  • This policy will apply to all ALM/QC and ALM Octane product releases and patches, whether or not Customer has upgraded to the most recent release(s) or patch(es).
  • This policy applies to all Micro Focus customers and is subject to change at any time.

If you would like additional ALM Octane licenses, please reach out to your Micro Focus Account Representative.
