Question
Determine if it is an absolute that we need LVM thin pools to be created for our 2018.05 upgrade by Microfocus Professional Services.
If it is a requirement we need exact sizing specifications that we need to provide for the thin pool.
We need to know risk / benefit of creating thin pool vs. going forward without it for our 2018.05 upgrade installation.
Answer
Clarification from R&D regarding the thin_pool_autoextend settings.
Even though the documentation says the step is optional, R&D says it is mandatory.
The documented values (80% and 20%) are required for all known configurations. When the lvm gets to be 80% of total storage an auto extend will get triggered and will increase the lvm by 20%.
This should result in faster Docker performance.”
